LATEST UPDATE AUGUST 2021

The Aboyne & District Men’s Shed Trustees are delighted to announce that the new Aboyne and Mid Deeside Community Shed is complete and the Council have approved the Completion Certificate. Following a meeting with our Main Contractor AJC, we can confirm that the Aboyne and District Men’s Shed is now owner of the building enabling us to complete occupancy arrangements. While awaiting final completion acceptance we had operated under a temporary occupation certificate from the Aberdeenshire Council. Now we have our completion certificate we are now able to progress bringing in and installing equipment into the downstairs workshop. In parallel with this, various community groups have started to use the upstairs spaces. Some of these groups are noted on our sister website (Aboyne & Mid-Deeside Community Shed) under the User Group page. All groups currently are single occupancy having their own dedicated space and times.

The Men’s Shed is now open at these times for Workshop and Social area the exception being Saturday which is Workshop only:-

Tuesdays 1300 – 1700

Thursdays 1300 – 1700

Saturdays 0900 – 1300

Currently the workshop fit out is taking place with open times being used to progress installation of woodwork and metal work equipment, storage and work surfaces and power take off system – there is still much to do, but fair progress is being made.  All help is appreciated so do come along and get involved. Regular communication with Aboyne Men’s Shed Members is being made via email.

Mid-Deeside Community Trust (MDCT) are now using the upstairs office as their new base, supporting the Community Shed operation. With occupancy of the office the MDCT telephone number also acts as a single point contact for the Community Shed and MDCT. The number can be contacted weekdays between 09:00 and 13:00.

Our thanks to all those who have followed our journey and for the support of the AMS members which currently stands at 65, a fair start.
